Sweden – Abdon Foods
Abdon Food, a company under the umbrella of Abdon Group, manufactures, markets, and sells over 350,000 tons of grain products annually. The company’s journey began in 1973 with the establishment of one of the first fully automated flour mills in Helsingborg, Sweden. Today, Abdon is committed to becoming 100% fossil-free by 2030 as part of its sustainability goals, which is one of the key reasons for its partnership with Alapala.
Engineering a Modern Flour Mill for Sustainable Food Production
Accon Industrial Construction successfully completed the structural steel construction of the new flour mill facility for Abdon Food in Helsingborg, Sweden. Designed to support a production capacity of 300 tons per day (300 TPD), the facility represents a modern investment in wheat flour production, combining efficient industrial design, precision engineering and long-term structural reliability.
As one of Sweden’s well-established grain processing companies, Abdon Food continues to invest in advanced milling infrastructure to strengthen production efficiency while supporting sustainable manufacturing practices. Accon was selected as the industrial construction partner thanks to its extensive experience in delivering industrial steel buildings for the global grain and food processing industries.
The project reflects Accon’s commitment to engineering excellence, quality craftsmanship and dependable project execution. From engineering and fabrication to on-site erection, every stage was carried out with meticulous planning and close collaboration with the project stakeholders.
Designed Around Performance
A flour mill is more than a production building—it is a highly engineered industrial facility where structural precision directly contributes to operational performance.
The steel structure was designed to safely accommodate heavy milling equipment, process towers, conveyors and supporting systems while providing maximum stability and flexibility for future operational requirements.
Every engineering decision focused on creating a facility that delivers:
- Long-term structural durability
- High operational reliability
- Efficient equipment integration
- Optimized construction performance
- Flexible space for future expansion
Through careful engineering and detailed planning, the building was developed to support continuous production under demanding industrial conditions.
